Where AnyRouter is different
- $0-markup BYOK. Route on your own provider keys (60+ providers) and AnyRouter charges nothing — no per-request fee, no surcharge. You pay only the provider.
- A donated shared pool. Members donate spare provider quota; every token the pool serves through your key adds up to 8% (tiered by plan) to a pending balance you can claim, and donating one key also grants the Go plan for free for as long as it stays active.
- A $2/mo Go plan. $2 buys a $4 monthly credit plus free-model access — or donate a key and pay nothing.
- Cloudflare-edge routing. AnyRouter runs on Cloudflare Workers, routing every provider through Cloudflare's AI Gateway at the edge.
- On-device models via local relay. A first-party relay can serve models running on your own paired hardware — including Apple's on-device Foundation Model.
- A built-in MCP server. Your workspace (models, keys, credits, status) is exposed as MCP tools with OAuth, so assistants manage AnyRouter directly.
- Open pricing config. Model prices live in a version-controlled config in the repo, not a private table.
Migrating is a two-line change
Because AnyRouter speaks the same OpenAI-compatible contract, switching is usually just the base URL and the key; model ids become provider/model.
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(base_url="https://anyrouter.dev/api/v1", api_key="sk-ar-v1-...")
resp = client.chat.completions.create(
model="anthropic/claude-opus-4-8",
messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hello"}],
)For the deeper dives: $0-markup BYOK in BYOK, the pool economics in shared key pool, the $2 Go plan in starter plan, and on-device inference in local relay. The shorter comparison checklist is OpenRouter alternative.
